Campus Life

Appalachian State University is one of the seventeen constituent institutions of the statewide University of North Carolina system. This campus has been the site of Summer Ventures institutes since the inception of the program.

ASU is located in Boone, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, close to the borders of Virginia and Tennessee. The campus covers about 250 acres; the architecture ranges from rustic to modern. The pleasantly warm days and cool evenings make this region one of North Carolina's favorite vacation spots. Nearby tourist attractions include Grandfather Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Linville Gorge and many vacation resorts.

Summer 2024 Housing - TBD Residence Hall

Students live in the residence hall under the supervision of qualified Student Life Instructors (SLIs) who provide guidance and plan social, athletic, cultural, and co-curricular activities. All of the Summer Ventures institutes operate under statewide guidelines regarding curfews, dating, sign-outs, and visitors. Additional rules may be established as needed at the respective sites, specifically the Protection of Minors Policies as well as Covid-19 campus policies.

Students are not allowed to have cars on campus, and drugs, alcohol and tobacco are strictly prohibited. All Youth Program Policies mandated by the UNC System and Appalachian State University must be followed. Students who not adhere to regulations, policies, who act in an immature manner or fail to take advantage of the academic opportunities offered by the program will be dismissed.
